So you have discovered the Angora Rabbit !
is it for you? Of course the Angora is
an incredible animal. Almost unreal in
looks and with an incredibly docile loving
nature. When people ask me if they make good
pets I have to think hard. My usual
reply is 'think of the Angora Rabbit more
like a sheep than a pet cat or dog'.
The Angora has been bred for centuries to
provide fibre and that's what it does best.
once you appreciate that and you realise
that just like sheep they need to be clipped
regularly then you are on to a winner.
How many animals offer you so much !
As a pet, a companion animal, an exhibition
animal, it's a whole new hobby. Of course
the artistic possibilities of using the
fibre can open up a whole new world for you
too.
The Angora is more a way of life
for those that truly embrace it. You
might start out wanting it purely as a pet
but once you have a bag full of that fibre
it would be madness not to do something with
it. I warn you now, this animal will
take over your life but it will give you an
incredible amount of fun and diversity. You
will never be bored again.
